The 43rd Arizona Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Youth Sports Awards are on Thursday, May 9, starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, in the new Virginia G. Piper Theater.

The event will also honor the Youth Sports Award winners on the same stage as this year’s Hall of Fame inductees, who include:

Dr. Michele Mitchell, a USA Olympic diver and the most decorated diver in the history of the University of Arizona; Lafayette “Fat” Lever, a retired NBA All-Star who has played and been involved with the National Basketball Association for over 20 years; Heather Farr, a junior and women’s golf professional being inducted posthumously; and Karl Eller, a recognized Arizona business entrepreneur and sports leader.

The Youth Sports Awards portion of this year’s Induction Ceremony will pay tribute to the nominees and their outstanding accomplishments, followed by the award announcements for “Coach of the Year,” “Athlete of the Year” and “Contributor of the Year.” Nominees for 2013 can be found listed under Youth Sports Awards at www.PhoenixSports.org.

The Induction Ceremony will be preceded with a reception featuring cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction. Tickets start at $100.
