Desert Vista senior lineman Cole Preston went on an official visit last weekend to Colorado School of Mines and came back from Golden, Colo., an Oredigger.

The 6-foot-1, 235-pounder was an offensive center and defensive tackle for the Thunder over the last two years. CSM is going to use him along the defensive front where he had 27 tackles and two sacks last season.

Preston is near the top of his class academically and was recently selected by the National Football Foundation (Arizona Chapter) as a “Top 50” High School Football Scholar Athlete.
