Chandler-Gilbert Community College Baseball will honor alumnus and current Colorado Rockies infielder Eric Young Jr. on Tuesday, Feb. 8, at 2:45 p.m. on the college's baseball fields.

A sign with Young's name will be hung on the outfield fence during a short pre-game ceremony at 2:45 p.m. to honor Young for his achievements in professional baseball.

Young started his college career at CGCC in 2003, playing second base for the Coyotes for one season before signing with the Rockies.

Born in New Brunswick, N.J., Young was chosen by the Rockies in the 2003 amateur Major League Baseball draft in the 30th round out of Piscataway High School. He made the decision to attend CGCC to pursue his college and baseball dreams, turning down an offer to play football on a scholarship at Villanova University.
