DV hosting softball camp for girls

The Desert Vista High School Thunder softball program will host a two-day softball clinic from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, and Friday, June 18, at Kyrene Akimel A-al Middle School, 2720 E. Liberty Lane.

The clinic is open to girls 7 to 12 and will cover throwing mechanics, fielding skills, basic fast-pitch pitching techniques, hitting mechanics and base running. The clinic will also include a practice scrimmage at the end of each day. The girls will be separated into two age groups – 7 to 9 and 10 to 12.

The $40 clinic fee includes instruction and a DV softball T-shirt. The deadline to register is Friday, June 4. Forms are available on the team’s website at http://staff.tuhsd.k12.az/ccrowl/Softball/index/htm  and at the main office at the school.

GWCC baseball tryouts June 10

Tryouts for the 2010-11 GateWay Community College men’s baseball team will be at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 10, on field 3 of Gene Autry Park, 4125 E. McKellips Road, Mesa.
