Ahwatukee resident Cassie Gannis, the 2012 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Most Popular Driver, and most recent finalist on the nationally televised “Peak Stock Car Dream Challenge” will head to Nevada to race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Saturday with a new special sponsor for the night.

Jack Carter, a firefighter on disability retirement, contacted Gannis via Twitter a month ago expressing interest in partnering with her to help bring attention to three specific organizations.

Gannis will race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the NASCAR All-American Series with the Yarnell 19 logo that has been established since the fire near Prescott took the lives of 19 firefighters.

The hope is to bring more recognition to charities for fallen firemen and their families: YarnellFallenFireFighters.com, 100Club.org, The Wildland Firefighters Foundation (wffoundation.org).
