Desert Vista graduate Devon Kennard was named starting middle linebacker for Southern California.

The 6-foot-3, 250-pounder played in all 13 games last season, including five starts. He recorded 34 total tackles (18 solo) with two tackles for a loss, three passes broken up, three passes defended, forced a fumble and recovered one.

He made several publications' Pac-10 all-freshman first-teams.

The Trojans opened the season on Thursday at Hawaii.
