Mountain Pointe outfielder Jake Alexander helped Team Arizona to the Jr. Sunbelt Classic title in Oklahoma as the team went 9-1, including a 5-2 win over Colorado in the title game.
Five Arizona players were named to the all-tournament team as Catalina Foothills’s Luis Gonzalez was named top player, Sunnyslope’s Calvin Leburn was named top pitcher, while the Greenway duo of Tyler Frost and Payton Squier and Cienega’s Luis Gonzalez were named to the all-tournament team.
It is the second time Arizona won the tournament title, matching the 2008 squad.
