Four Arizona Aqua Stars swimmers performed well recently.

Sydney Schmisseur, a freshman at Desert Vista, advances to Nationals in Oxford, Ohio, June 23-30 in a duet routine. She competed with her team at the Junior/Senior Championships, hosted in Mesa, where her team placed sixth.

Aspen Smith, a fourth-grader at Horizon Honors, placed first at the regional championships in four categories (Figures, Solo, Duet and Team Routines). She has qualified for the U.S. National Synchronized Swimming Championships in Ohio.

At age 9, Smith will be the youngest swimmer in Oxford competing as an Arizona Aqua Star on the 11-12 Age Group Team, where she finished sixth in the nation last year.

Caileigh Burdette and Bonnie Wanstreet, both of whom attend Horizon, are on the 10 and Under Team who also took first place at the regional competition, but won’t be competing nationally because the event doesn’t have a team competition for that age group.
