Deutsch, USA brings home bronze medal

Ahwatukee Foothills resident Isaiah Deutsch helped Team USA to the bronze medal at the COPABE Pan Am ‘A' 14U Championships in Nicaragua.

The team finished the national event 4-2 and topped it off Saturday with three pitchers combining for a perfect game in a 6-0 win over Brazil to win the bronze.

Joe DeMers, Adam Haseley and Kiko Garcia combined to throw the second perfect game (fourth no-hitter) in Team USA 14U history.

Deutsch, who is a freshman at Brophy Prep, hit leadoff in the game after batting ninth in his previous two appearances.

Overall, he batted .600 (6 for 10) with four home runs and 10 RBIs.
