Local club baseball team wins tourney

Club SPAWN, a competitive club baseball team based in Ahwatukee, went 6-0 and won the USSSA President’s Day NIT Championship in the 13UAAA division on Feb. 18 at Victory Lane Sports Park in Glendale.

SPAWN outscored its opponents 59-16 over six games and recorded three shutouts, including a 7-0 win in the championship game. The team, managed by Todd McFarlane, is now 46-13-3 on the year and ranked No. 1 in its division. SPAWN is comprised of primarily Ahwatukee Foothills residents.
