Ahwatukee resident Victor A. Cogco-Hernandez won a scholarship to the soccer camp of his choice this summer thanks to Scion, the Toyota car brand.

Throughout the month of May Scion set out to reward emerging young talent from diverse walks of life through its Scion Soccer Stars contest, in partnership with Arizona Youth Soccer Association (AYSA.)

Cogco-Hernandez, who will be a senior at Mountain Pointe this fall, is dedicated to helping his neighborhood as well as his friends and other students with their school loads while exemplifying a leader on the soccer field. Cogco-Hernandez is a goal keeper who is trying to be someone in life. His parents have a hard time as they solely Spanish-speaking, but he gives his all every single day, on and off the field. He has won many academic and soccer awards, and truly exemplified a what Scion stands for — showing a promising future as an entrepreneurial leader.
