The Legends of Baseball Vintage Showdown is being played at Scottsdale Stadium on Sunday.
The game will be played as if it were being played in 1887 as the players will use mitts the size of gardening gloves with no webbing or padding, the hitters will use 40-ounce bats and lemon-peel stitched balls.
Some of the rule changes include no balks or a use of pitching runner, and all trick plays are legal while the players, which include Reggie Jackson, Steve Garvey, Dave Stewart and Rickey Henderson, will wear 19th century knickers-style uniforms and pillbox caps.
The game, sponsored by Vintage 9 Foundation, is at 7 p.m. on Oct. 28
Before the game there will be a free youth baseball clinic at 3 p.m. with registration at 2:30 p.m.
To preregister, go to mlbpaa.mlb.com/mlbpaa/events/legends_form.jsp.
Afterward there will be a barbecue and autographs with the players.
