The Ahwatukee Foothills PONY Baseball League won State Championships in both the Shetland Division (ages 4-6) and the Pinto Kid Pitch Division (ages 7-8) this past weekend at the Kyrene Akimel A-al Middle School baseball fields.

The Shetland All Star team, coached by Ron Ensley, went 4-0 by outscoring its opponents 60-17.

This is the first State title for the Shetland division in its three-year existence.

The Ahwatukee Devils team also won its first State PONY title.

During the season the Devils went 15-1 in the PONY Kid Pitch division and are 48-3-1 in 2013. This championship adds to their prior 2012 USSSA Fall League and USSSA 2013 Super Bowl Bash tournament titles. Devil’s coach is Scott Westley.

The Devils will advance to San Jose, Calif., July 18-21 to play in the PONY Kid Pitch World Series.
