Martial Arts Academy test

JB Martial Arts Academy will be conducting its second black belt test June 16 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Chandler studio, 5865 W. Ray Road, Suite 10. Owner and head instructor Glen Wong said this test is open to the public, but requests calling ahead so that he can assure seating. Wong says martial arts is a healthy outlet for the mind and body for all and may lead others to pursue healthy activities, especially during the summer.

DV offers summer hoops camp

A grade-based Lil’ Dribblers basketball camp for boys and girls in the third through the eighth grades will be from noon to 3 p.m. June 21 through June 21 at the Desert Vista High School gymnasium, 16440 S. 32nd St.

No experience is necessary to participate in the camp that is designed to help players learn the mechanics and fundamental strategies of the game while improving individual skills in an exciting atmosphere.

Longhorns offer fall football registration

The Ahwatukee Longhorns Football Club will have a fall football registration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, June 12, at Peter Piper Pizza in Ahwatukee Foothills at 50th Street and Ray Road.

The organization is a grade-based, no boundaries, no weight limits, 11-man tackle football and cheer league for grades first through eighth.

The club is part of the Arizona Competitive Youth Football League (ACYFL) and offers four divisions of play: Mighty-Mite (first/second grade), Junior Pee Wee (third/fourth grade), Pee Wee (fifth/sixth grade), and Junior (seventh/eighth grade). All levels practice together and play at the same location on game day.

The registration fees for tackle football are $190 for third grade and up, $140 for first- and second-graders; Cheer, $90. Payment plans are available, and there is a $10 sibling discount. Home games will be played at Mountain Pointe High School.

Soccer camp in Ahwatukee

Callaghan’s English Soccer Camps are coming to Ahwatukee Foothills this summer for the second year. Featuring professional English, European and USSF “A” licensed coaches, the next camp is from 8 to 10:15 a.m. June 14 to 18 at Desert Foothills Park.
