Encanterra Country Club, a private club and community in the Southeast Valley, has been selected by the United States Golf Association to host an 18-hole, local qualifying tournament for the 2014 U.S. Open Championship on Thursday, May 8. This is the second time Encanterra Country Club has been selected for this honor.

Local qualifying is the all-important first step in the process of making it to the U.S. Open, one of the most cherished titles in golf. Players who make it past local qualifying then go on to sectional qualifying and finally the 2014 US Open Championship, which will be contested on Pinehurst Resort & Country Club’s No. 2 Course in the Village of Pinehurst, N.C., June 12-15.
