Joey Curletta, professional baseball player.

Has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?

The recent Mountain Pointe graduate thinks so and he is enjoying his first few weeks in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization at Camelback Ranch in Glendale.

“I’ve loved it so far,” said Curletta, who was taken in the sixth round of the MLB draft by the Dodgers. “It’s pretty much eat, sleep and baseball. All of the guys are really cool. It’s been everything I’ve wanted.”

Curletta was drafted as an outfielder and has been getting plenty of time in right field as the team prepares for the Arizona Rookie League games to get under way.

“We were getting up at 7 (a.m.) heading to the field and practicing all day,” he said. “Now, we are starting to practice in the evening as we get ready for night games. It’s baseball all of the time and that’s what I wanted.”

Curletta signed right away and gave up his scholarship to the University of Arizona.

“I made the right decision,” he said.
