The long awaited day is here.

The idea of playing college athletics is something that usually starts at a young age and develops into a driving force.

For the 2014 senior class it becomes official on Wednesday as student athletes from Desert Vista, Horizon Honors and Mountain Pointe sign their national letters of intent.

The focus is on football, a sport where as many as 15 local athletes will sign with either two- or four-year colleges, but there will be athletes from several sports putting pen to paper in ceremonies at all three schools.
