Brooklyn Christofis, a Kyrene de la Esparanza Elementary School student, won the Girls on the Run 5K on April 28.

Her time of 20 minutes and 30 seconds was the best for female participants of any age and third overall regardless of gender.

Christofis, daughter of Desert Vista cross country coach Doug, ran her first and second mile in 6:45 and finished strong with the third mile clocked at 6:23.
