Ahwatukee Foothills Soccer Club ‘99 Girls, coached by Brian Thames, won its second consecutive state championship last weekend. They beat Tucson Soccer Academy 3-0 to advance to next month’s regional championships in Albuquerque, N.M.

AFSC’s ‘00 girls, coached by Jim Thames, lost in the championship for the U-14 division. The team battled Az Arsenal, forcing two over times and penalty kicks to decide the championship.

AFSC’s ‘98 girls, coached by Mark Wilson, placed third in the U-16 division state championships. They also had a heart-breaking loss in the semi-finals that went to penalty kicks.
