Mountain Pointe shortstop Cole Tucker is in Taiwan representing his country on the baseball diamond.

He couldn’t happier.

The Pride senior made the USA U18 squad that is currently in Asia for the IBAF World Cup. The journey started weeks ago in North Carolina when the roster was cut from 144 to 40.

He spent last week in Los Angeles for tryouts and made the final roster of 20. Games started early this week and he planned on soaking it all up.

“They had us all in a ballroom at the hotel and they read off the names of who made it and we left and went to a smaller room and hugged it out,” Tucker said about the selection process. “It was such a cool feeling! This is something I’ve worked my whole life for.”

Now, he just has to live up to the standard his 12-year-old brother, Carson, set when he was part of the gold medal-winning team that won the IBAF 12U World Cup in Taiwan.

“It’s weird, but I get to follow my little brother’s footsteps,” Tucker said before he left. “I’m trying to go win a gold medal just like him.”
