MP softball sneaks into tournament field

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

As it turns out, a four-run seventh inning that sparked a 7-5 win over rival Desert Vista did save Mountain Pointe's softball season.

Though the Pride would go 1-1 to finish the season, that critical victory gave the team enough points in the AIA's power rankings to stay among the top 16 as the regular season wound down this week.

MP (16-15, 3-6 Central Region) will play at No. 1 Chandler Basha (25-3, 5-1), whom the Pride have played three times this season during the region schedule. First pitch is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at Basha.

The Bears swept MP this season, winning 1-0 April 8, 7-1 April 11 and, most recently, 4-1, to close out the regular season Tuesday.

Basha ended the season winning eight of nine games.

Desert Vista didn't make the field, finishing at No. 22.

WHO Cares About Swine Flu
The World Health Organization has declared its first influenza pandemic in 40 years. Does this concern you?
I'm stocking up on hand sanitizer and Theraflu as we speak.
I'm not that concerned. Swine flu doesn't seem much more deadly than the regular flu.
Is swine flu still a thing?
