SCOTTSDALE - The Mountain Pointe girls basketball team might want to petition the Arizona Interscholastic Assoction to play all of its home games at Horizon High.

The Pride continued their good groove in the Scottsdale Holiday Invitational on Wednesday with a 71-41 win over Phoenix North Canyon to win the gold pool with a 3-0 record.

"We are shooting the best we have all season the last three games," Pride coach Trevor Neider said. "Our execution has been better the last couple of days. We have been working on transition and the fast break and it has come together in this tournament."

Mountain Pointe (9-3) will play host Horizon on Thursday in the semifinals of the 16-team, 4-pool tournament at 3 p.m. A win would advance the Pride to the championship game later Thursday evening.

The win over North Canyon came pretty easy as Mountain Pointe led 21-14 after one period and 40-20 at halftime. By the time the fourth quarter came around the running clock rule was in place as the Pride led by 30 in the fourth quarter.

Freshman Kaylah Lupoe led the way with 12 points and sophomore Ashley Clubb added 10.
