CHANDLER - The Mountain Pointe girls volleyball team shook off a mini two-game skid and continued a solid start to the season with a 3-1 win at Chandler on Wednesday night.

The Pride improved to 13-4 and found a rhythm after losing two straight matches to Hamilton in the last week.

Against Chandler, Mountain Pointe took charge in each game, but the Wolves made a run in all but one as the Pride won 25-23, 24-26, 25-8 and 25-21.

"In the second game we had a 8-1 lead and we let it slip," Mountain Pointe coach Fred Mann said. "Maybe I was a little late on the substitution and let it ride too long."

In the first game, Mountain Pointe led 12-5 and let Chandler (3-15) come back and eventually lead 23-22 before the Pride pulled it out.

After Chandler won the second game, Mountain Pointe controlled the rest of the match but got a scare in the fourth when the Pride's second team barely held off a rally by Chandler.

Mann put the regulars back in and closed out the match.
