DV fares well at Conley Invite

The Desert Vista girls cross country team won the 38th annual Doug Conley Invitational at the Rolling Hills Golf Course in Tempe.

The Thunder finished with 76 points to best Phoenix Xavier, which did not use many of its top runners, by two points. Gilbert Highland was third with 125 points with Page (126 points) and Chinle (159) finishing out the top five.

The Mountain Pointe girls did not compete.

Desert Vista was led by Brittany Tretbar, who finished fifth with a time of 19 minutes and 30.51 seconds, and Lauren Owens, who also broke the 20-minute barrier at 19:55.

The Desert Vista boys were second behind Phoenix Alhambra, 147 to 156.

Ryan Maack (16:37.43) and Ryan Dykstra (16:39.40) finished 11th and 12th, respectively, to pace the Thunder.

The Mountain Pointe boys were 20th as Connor Donnelly finished 63rd at 17:36.33.
