PONY Baseball: Bronco Red manager relaying life experiences

If there really is a way to never grow old, Joe Inch may have found it.

He coaches 11 and 12-year-old baseball players in the Ahwatukee PONY league Bronco division.

"They keep me young," Inch said. "I love being with the kids and coaching them."

A former college player at Wingate University in North Carolina and a member of an adult league, Inch has a strong baseball background he can relate to the Bronco Red All-Stars who have been getting ready for their annual tournament that starts July 10 in Scottsdale.

This is the third season Inch has been in a coaching box but the first with the older players. He coached the 9 and 10-year-old Mustangs, including his son, Oliver Baldwin, the previous two seasons.

"There's not a huge adjustment," Inch said. "The kids are bigger and stronger and more developed, so there is a lot more strategy to the game."

About half of his Bronco Red team came from his Mustang team last season.

"They know me and I know them, so that makes things easy that way," Inch added.
