The Arizona Interscholastic Association decided early Friday morning to postpone all of the semifinal football games scheduled for this weekend.

All games have been moved until 6 p.m. on Monday with some games getting a new location.

Go to for changes.

Top-ranked Mountain Pointe (12-0) will play No. 4 Desert Ridge (11-1) at McClintock as originally scheduled.

The AIA sent out a statement stating safety is the concern: “Due to the weather conditions, field conditions and safety of the players and fans attending the games.”

With the game being played on Monday, it makes championship week a little congested with Thanksgiving and the smaller divisions – Divisions II through V – having to play again on Friday while Division I plays on Saturday.

“There is less time to see what (your opponent does) but it is still two championship caliber teams out there playing,” Pride coach Norris Vaughan said. “Round Valley played three games in eight days this year and Brophy did something similar last year.

“Let’s be realistic now, we know how to block and tackle by now. We just won’t be able to work on the mental stuff as long. We won’t be as prepared but that doesn’t mean it is going to be a sloppy game.”
