Mountain Pointe shooting guard Austin Witherill is transferring to Highland, Pride coach Aaron Windler said.
Witherill, who will be a junior next season, was second on the Pride in scoring last year at 11.0 points per game and added 3.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists. He shot 41 percent from the field and 31 percent from 3-point range.
He will give the Hawks a second scoring option alongside Jake Toolson, who averaged 18.4 points and 6.3 rebounds last year.
“He’s best friends with Jake Toolson, so it’s not a huge surprise,” Windler said.
Witherill was expected to be part of a talented Mountain Pointe backcourt which also included Khari Holloway and Jalen Brown.
Austin’s big brother, Nick, transferred to Highland from Saguaro for his senior year of high school before moving on to Washington State.
