PRESCOTT VALLEY - The Desert Vista wrestling program will have three in the state finals for the second year in a row.
Now can the Thunder pull off the tri-fecta again?
Last year Desert Vista had three in the finals and all came home winners.
This year two of the finalists are the same as Robbie Mathers (132) goes for a school-record third title, while Alex Bambic (195) goes for his second.
The newcomer is senior Robert Sobarzo (138).
The Thunder began the day tied for third in the team standings just a few points behind Chandler and Sunnyside.
Other Thunder placers are Brian Mitchell (106) and Derek Allen (145).
Mountain Pointe had three wrestlers alive in the consolations with Cody Rojas (113) one match away from placing from the last report, while Trey Stevenson (120) and Blake Gaughan (126) lost their first match of the day to be eliminated.
