The second-seeded Mountain Pointe badminton team remained on course Monday by winning two matches in the state tournament.

The Pride swept No. 15 Campo Verde and No. 10 Chaparral, 5-0 each, to advance to Wednesday's semifinals where they will face No. 3 Sunnyslope.

The other semifinals pits No. 1 Xavier against No. 4 Red Mountain.

The matches are at 6:30 p.m. at Sunnyslope with the winners advancing to Thursday's championship match at the same location.

Sixteen-seeded Desert Vista lost 5-1 to Xavier in the first round.
