PONY Baseball: Mustang Blue manager out to make baseball fun
Comments 0 | Recommend 0It was probably destined that Tyler Jones would play baseball.
His great-grandfather pitched in the St. Louis Cardinals organization and his grandfather was a pitcher in the Ohio industrial leagues.
His father, Scott, is a former Little League who played in college and is now his coach on the Ahwatukee PONY League Mustang Blue team for 9 and 10 year olds.
This is the seventh season that Tyler and Scott Jones have been on the field together as player and coach.
"I will continue to coach as long as my son enjoys having me out there," Jones added.
The Mustang Blue team is preparing for the annual PONY league All-Star season that begins on July 10.
"The most important thing is to make baseball fun for the kids," Jones added. "Teaching them the skills that will help them to enjoy the game and be successful is very rewarding.
