Tempe Union High School District Director of Communications Linda Littell said on Friday that Desert Vista girls basketball coach Jaysie Chambers-Sheppard will not turn in her letter of resignation.

It forces the district to move on by terminating her contract. It will be handled at Wednesday's governing board meeting.

"I was informed this morning that (Chamber-Sheppard) will not be turning in her resignation so we will move forward with the termination," Littell said.

Chambers-Sheppard had a series of complaints filed with the district since the start of the season, according to Littell.

The Desert Vista administration felt the need to make a change after an incident with a player happened on Jan. 11 in the Thunder's loss to Mountain Pointe, Littell said earlier in the week.

The first-year coach wasn't with the team the following Sunday on a team trip to an Arizona State women's game and was asked to resign on Monday.

She was replaced by junior varsity coach Jontar Coleman, who led the team to a win on Tuesday.

Desert Vista (13-7) hosts Chandler tonight at 7 p.m.
