State tennis: DV girls advances, others eliminated

Desert Vista girls tennis has momentum and hopes to ride it as long as possible.

The Thunder won their Division I first-round match on Wednesday 5-2 over Corona del Sol.

Sixth-seeded Desert Vista advance to the quarterfinals where the Thunder will take on No. 3 Basha on May 7.

Before then junior Melissa Kahn and the doubles team of Yolena and Tori Kammerzel will compete in the DI individual tournaments.

The Mountain Pointe girls team, the 10th seed, lost 5-2 Wednesday to Basha, while the 10th Thunder boys were knocked out in the first round also, falling 5-0 to No. 7 Hamilton.
