HIGHLIGHT:

Connor Jeffries gave Pinnacle its first lead of the night in the second overtime with a 10-yard run, a touchdown that turned out to be the game-winner

 

PLAYERS OF THE GAME:Pinnacle running back Connor Jeffries carried the ball 26 times for 119 yards and two touchdowns. For Desert Vista, Anders Battle scored on offense and defense, scoring on a 77-yard run and an 83-yard interception return.

 

KEY STAT: Desert Vista had touchdown runs of 67 and 77, totalling 144 yards. The rest of the evening, the Thunder carried the ball 25 times for 15 total yards

INFO: Mountain Pointe (3-0) defeated Chandler Basha (1-1), 21-10, in a 5A nonregion game Friday night at Mountain Pointe.

HIGHLIGHT:

Facing a 4th and 6 at the Basha 38, Mountain Pointe tight end Ben DeMarr made a diving catch of a pass from Austin Blom for a 14-yard gain and a first down. Four plays later, Mountain Pointe scored the first of its three touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

 

PLAYER OF THE GAME:

D'Andre Currie was held in check for the majority of the game, but the lightning quick tailback broke off two big touchdown runs, the final a 69-yarder that put the game away for Mountain Pointe. Currie finished with 156 yards on the night.

 

KEY STAT:

Mountain Pointe came up with the big plays when it needed them most - in the fourth quarter - as the Pride wiped out a 10-0 deficit with 21 unanswered points to improve to 3-0 just one year after going 2-8.
