Kevin Cron's prodigious power has garnered a lot of attention from scouts, media and opposing pitchers.

East Valley Region coaches can be added to that list after the Mountain Pointe senior was named the player of the year in the region.

The Texas Christian recruit set the state record in home runs (23) for a season while hitting over .500 all season and being the team's most consistent pitcher.

The Pride, which finished second in the region race behind Desert Ridge, was well-represented on the first two teams announced.

First-team picks were Joey Curletta, Anthony Balderrama, Scott Kingery, Jordan Kipper and Quinn Tucker,

On the second team for the Pride were Brantley Bell, Sam Kingery and Justin Tibitt, while no one made the honorable mention team.

Desert Ridge's Pat Herrera was named coach of the year.

The rest of the first team was Ricky Alvarez (Skyline), Gerardo Arzaga (Westwood), Dylan Barrett (Desert Ridge), Alex Burridge (Perry), Sergio Canales (Casa Grande), Justin Donovan (Desert Ridge), Nick Fatica (Marcos de Niza), Zack Gutierrez (Casa Grande), Scott Hoffman (Desert Ridge), Trent Keefer (Skyline), Dallas Sigrist (Marcos de Niza), Riley Unroe (Desert Ridge), Josh Villenueva (Westwood) and David Wallker (Perry).
