Several Ahwatukee Foothills area PONY league teams played for Arizona region championships last weekend with one coming away with the title.
The Ahwatukee Red (pictured) won the Pinto Division by beating the Ahwatukee White, 14-8, in the championship game. In the Shetland Division, the Ahwatukee White finished second after being defeated, 29-21, by the Casa Grande Red.
The Ahwatukee Red roster was Troy Daley, Max Kerkhove, Xavier Escobedo, Michael Trausch, Karson Herder, Ryan Santino, Christian Cardenas, Cooper Libenguth, Tyvon Moore, Bruce “Zeek” Hilton, Ben Smith and Jake Terry. They were coached by manager Craig Daley and assistants Marcos Escobedo, Mario Cardenas and Mike Trausch.
