Wrestling: Thunder win TOC tourmnament with two champions

Desert Vista kicked off the meat of their schedule in impression fashion.

The Thunder won the Tournament of Champions at Cerritos College in Norwalk, Calif., with 231.5 points on the strength of nine placers, five finalists and two champions.

The closest opponent in the 63-team tournament was Las Costa Canyon with 202.5 points, while Alta Loma (191.5), Shadow Ridge (159) and Canyon Springs (153) rounded out the top five.

The champions for the Thunder were Jeremiah Imonode (182) and Tristan Ezell (220), while Alex Carrillo (113), Nico Campbell (138) and Adam Ortega (HVY) were runner-ups.

Coming in third was Mitchell White (160), Chad Porter (170) was fourth, Brian Mitchell (126) was fifth and Gage McGrew (106) was eighth.

Desert Vista’s B team finished tied for 40th with 24 points and the C team had 10 points to finish 52nd.
