The postseason brackets for baseball and softball were released Thursday evening.

Mountain Pointe will have to defend its Division I state baseball title as the 15th seed as the Pride open at home against Mesa Mountain View at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

The winner advances to face No. 2 Chaparral on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Desert Vista was pegged as the 20th seed and will travel to Anthem Boulder Creek on Saturday at 11 a.m.

The winner travels to No. 4 Brophy on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

In softball, the Thunder also grabbed the 20th seed and travel to No. 13 Pinnacle on Saturday at 11 a.m.

The winner advances to take on No. 4 Gilbert on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Under the new format this season, the double elimination portion of the tournament doesn’t start until Elite Eight so local teams have to win twice before it can have any setbacks otherwise the season is over.

In Division III, Horizon Honors is the 20th seed and faces No. 13 Willcox in Wednesday’s first round at Rose Mofford Complex at 6 p.m. The winner advances to face No. 4 Benson on Friday at Rose Mofford at 6 p.m.

The Division III tournament is single elimination.

Got to to view all of the brackets.
