Drake Moran had enough of Mountain Pointe.

The Desert Vista senior took over the early portions of the fourth and final game of Tuesday’s boys volleyball match at Mountain Pointe as the Thunder won 25-17, 25-17, 25-27, 25-14.

The 6-foot-1 setter/outside hitter had two killer spikes, a unreal dig and service ace to push the Thunder (12-4) out to a 7-1 lead in the fourth game.

“We were disappointed it went to four games so we were more fired up to play,” Moran said. “We were a little more into it.”

Mountain Pointe (4-3) had its chances as it led 15-14 in Game 2 before Desert Vista went on a 11-2 spurt to win it and should have won Game 3 with a little less effort as the Pride led 15-10 and 22-20 but had to scrap for the 27-25 win.

“We have trouble finishing,” senior middle blocker Sam Fuller said. “We showed we could play with them but we didn’t do it for the entire match.”

The Thunder went 3-3 over spring break in California to finish ninth in the gold bracket out of 42 teams.

“We are playing pretty good right now,” Moran said. “We played pretty good in California and it carried over into this match.”
