Desert Vista graduate Cody Sokol verbally committed to Iowa as the Scottsdale Community College quarterback parlayed his great sophomore season into a Division I scholarship.

Sokol made the announcement on Saturday via Twitter.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder chose the Hawkeyes over Arizona, Maryland and Cincinnati.

He is coming off a brilliant year that saw him throw for 3,807 yards on 253 completions (424 attempts), with 43 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
