The area's tennis players were unable to make it past the third round of action in the Division I singles and doubles state tournaments.

Mae Maiefski and Anastasia Pushkarenko of Mountain Pointe lost to fourth-seeded doubles team of Nicole Whinery and Maeve McGeorge of Salpointe Catholic on Saturday.

Desert Vista’s Melissa Khan in singles and Yolena Carlon and Tori Kammerzell of Desert Vista in doubles.

Kahn, the eighth-seed, lost to Desert Mountain’s Kristie Lee.

The Xavier tandem of Margaret Cohen and Scarlet Rush, the top-seeded combo, knocked out Carlon and Kammerzell.

All the other area competitors were eliminated on Friday.
