The Fish Bowl – the swimming version of the Ahwatukee Bowl – was swept by Desert Vista on Thursday at Nozomi Aquatic Center.

The girls won 117-68 over Mountain Pointe to keep their early season success going. The boys meet was closer and the Pride led by 10 points at the half-way mark, but the Thunder surged ahead with a good performance in the 500 freestyle to get the 113-70 win.

“It was a great meet,” Thunder coach Shawn O’Connell said. “Most events were won easily (by an individual), but the battles for second and third were close and pushed competitors on both teams.”

Mountain Pointe coach Steve Mancuso knew the Pride was going to need to have a great day in order to have a chance, but feels the team can build off this performance.

“Our focus right now is (High School Classic) invitational in Tucson (on Oct. 5),” he said. “We had some good individual performances. We are posting some times that are better than last year at this point.”
