Kevin Cron taken by Seattle

Mountain Pointe graduate Kevin Cron was taken with second pick of the the third round (92nd overall) on Tuesday morning of the MLB first-year player draft.

The slugging catcher/first baseman now has a decision to make considering he has already committed to top-tier program in Texas Christian University.

"I knew it was going to happen eventually," Cron said about waiting about the second round before seeing his named called on the Internet. "I'm glad it is Seattle. It's a great organization and we will see where it goes from here."

Cron, who is 6-foot-5, 245 pounds, helped the Pride to the Class 5A Division I state title after hitting .560 with a state-record 27 home runs and 65 RBIs, while going 8-1 with two saves on the mound.

He has been a finalist for numerous national player of the year awards inlcuding Gatorade and MaxPreps.
