Two in-state tournaments down, one to go.

The Ahwatukee Little League "Dawgs" defeated the Arrowhead Little League squad 10-5 on Thursday in Flagstaff to win the North Sectional tournament.

The team advances to the four-team state tournament in Tucson and will play at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday against the South Sectional champion (Game 1).

The North and South Sectional consolation brackets winners play each other at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Game 2.

The winner of the championship bracket advances to the final and the loser will play the winner of the North and South sectional consolation contest (Game 3) on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

The finals are on Thursday (Game 4) at 6:30 p.m. and Friday (Game 5, 6:30 p.m.), if necessary, as the team coming out of the consolation bracket has to beat the champion bracket winner twice.

All of the games are played at James Kreigh Park in Oro Valley.

The winner of the state tournament advances to the West Regional in San Bernardino, Calif. The event gets underway Aug. 5 against the Utah representative.

The tournament runs through Aug. 13 with the winner advancing to the Little League World Series.

The Dawgs have gone 9-1 since the start of the District 13 tournament and outscored their opponents 130 to 48 in the process.
