The final round of the Division I girls state golf tournament saw area players switch roles.

Mountain Pointe’s Lauren Blumears had the better day on Wednesday’s first round, but teammate Maddi Woodward found Aguila Golf Course in Laveen more to her liking in Thursday’s second round.

Woodward shot a 9-over par in the second round, to knock off six shots from the first day’s action, and finished in 36th place at 24-over par.

Blumears had a better overall finish at 21-over par and 33rd overal, but took a step back in the second round, shooting 13-over par, which was a five shot drop off.

Xavier super sophomore Hannah O’Sullivan shot a 5-under par 67 on the final day to win medalist honors for the second year in a row with a total score of 4-under par.

The Gators had an amazing final round, shooting 11-under as a team, and 2-under as a team for the two-day event.

Pinnacle was second at 21-over and Gilbert was third at 67-over par.
