Desert Vista swimmers Katie Olsen and Lauren Torres and Mountain Pointe baseball player Kevin Cron, basketball players Jerome Garrison and gymnast Jamie Armijo signed with four-year universities to continue their athletic careers.

Olsen signed with Stanford and Torres with Vanderbilt fresh off helping the Thunder to a fourth place finish at the Division I state swimming meet last weekend.

They were on the 200-yard medley relay team that took first place, while Torres finished fourth in the 100-yard butterfly and Olsen finished second in the 200-yard IM and defended her title in the 100-yard backstroke.

Cron is signing with Texas Christian University after hitting .496 with 25 home runs and 59 RBIs as a catcher and first baseman last season. He also went 6-3 with two saves with an ERA of 3.76 in 70 2/3 innings.

Garrison signed with Grand Canyon University after averaging 7.4 points, 3.0 points, 2.4 assists and 1.2 steals a game.

Armijo is a Level 10 gymnast who signed with Southern Utah University.
