AFN prints 28,000 copies of its Wednesday edition. The Wednesday edition
usually ranges 48 pages.

AFN started printing the Weekend Edition in September of 1997.

In 1976, Ahwatukee's only paper was called the Ahwatukee Sentinnal. In
July of 1978 the named changed to Ahwatukee News.
When the newspaper began in 1978, it had a press run of 2,000 with home
deliveries of 1,500 back when the only business was the Circle K.
The Ahwatukee News changed its name to the Ahwatukee Weekly News in
October 1988.
The press run in 1988 was 10,500 with 8,500 of these home deliveries.
In the 1989, the Ahwatukee Weekly News was located at 9831 S. 51st. The
newspaper expanded three times moving into a larger area each time
within the same building.
Clay changed the name of the newspaper to the Ahwatukee Foothills News
after the City of Phoenix held a contest to decide what to call the
Ahwatukee area.
AFN currently occupies 4,000 sq. feet of office space.

AFN pages are transferred to computer disk and must be at printers by 5
p.m. Monday for Wednesday's edition and 5 p.m. Thursday for the Weekend
edition.
The newspaper is back to AFN the next day and is then delivered by 25
people to businesses and homes in the Ahwatukee Foothills.
AFN is distributed to 28,000 homes in the Ahwatukee Foothills area.
Boundaries for distribution include Pecos Road to the south, Interstate
10 to the east, Piedmont Street to the north and 19th Avenue to the
west.
AFN has three different styles of newspaper racks in the Ahwatukee
Foothills area: the wire desk-rack size, the business size and an
outdoor newspaper stand rack.
AFN is a member of the Arizona Newspaper Association and has won many
awards including Best News Story, Best Sports Story, Best Sports
Photograph, Best Use of Color, Best Single Ad, Over All Excellence
(Advertising).
AFN's photo department uses an average of 40-50 rolls of film per week.

readership
