Scottie was abandoned at a vet’s office by his owner. He’s a very laid back cat, likes to sit up high on cabinets and survey his surroundings in the lobby of the vet’s office greeting patients and furry friends arriving for appointments. He also prefers to sleep in his own bed all curled up. He is not high energy but would like a lap or couch to sit on. He has long fur so will need regular grooming. Scottie seems to get along with everyone and is not scared of noises or people. His ears are crimped so it looks like a “Scottish Fold.” Due to a severe ear infection one ear will stay more crimped up than the other. He does not seem to mind that his ears aren’t long and pointy. He likes toys and will play, which will help him to be more active. He has been around other cats and dogs.

The Rev. Dr. Craig R. Haley’s letter in the Sept. 1 edition, “I stand for peace” suggests that he is living in his own world. I think we all stand for peace, but what about the 1,000-plus people murdered with sarin gas in Syria? Who stands for them? The Rev. Dr. would have been right at home with the isolationists in the U.S. that failed to act when Hitler was rounding up Jews prior to World War II.
I have read a lot of letters to the editor, and I keep reading those from people that like Obama, and Obamacare. Some say: “If you don’t like Obamacare, why don’t you present your plan for health care?”
I was reading the guest commentary of Don Kennedy (Aug. 30) in the Ahwatukee Foothills News and decided reply. In Don’s world it looks like there are only two choices, the socialist or the patriot. Given our two party system, yes there are two choices or really are there? Is Don implying that the Democrats are socialist and Republicans are patriots? But let me not get ahead of myself.
