Most people believe that retirement begins around the age of 60, give or take a few years. It is a time when we are no longer at work, and we are free to spend our time doing whatever we want. That is likely true for many retirees, but it is also partly true for everyone with a job … at least for some of the time.

However, it’s the kind of conversation you can’t afford to delay indefinitely. As your parents get older, it’s critical to sit down with them and talk about their health and financial well-being — before urgent decisions are forced on you.
Carmel is a 7-year-old sweet, happy Beagle. She was surrendered to the shelter because her owner could no longer take care of her. She would make a great family pet. Carmel would do well with older children and gets along well with other dogs.
Ahwatukee resident and Corpus Christi Catholic Church member Grant Goodman, son of Cindy and Tom, has been commissioned as a Cap Corps volunteer. Grant, a Creighton University graduate with a degree in political science and justice and peace studies, will be providing service to Escuela Verde in Milwaukee, Wis. Escuela Verde is a project-based, multi-aged school, grades 7-12, with a focus on environmental justice and sustainability. Cap Corps is a Franciscan Capuchin volunteer ministry, geared to college-aged students and graduates who wish to emulate the example of St. Francis of Assisi and serve the poor and disenfranchised.
Five hundred years ago there was a group of Christians living in Europe known as the Anabaptists. These are not to be confused with today’s Baptists, though the groups do share points of common history. The name Anabaptist was not so much a description as it was a condemnation.
