The Arizona Department of Education recently issued letter grades for each school based on its Arizona’s Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) performance results, and schools located in Ahwatukee have received high praises.

When I was growing up in Virginia, one of the signs of summer I anticipated most was the appearance of fat green tomatoes on the vines in our garden. We picked them well before they started to blush, dipped the thick slices in egg and milk, dredged them with cornmeal, salt and pepper, then fried them in a skillet.
President Obama is scheduled to visit Desert Vista High School in Ahwatukee Foothills on Tuesday, Aug. 6 to talk about the economy and his plan to strengthen the middle class. As a supporter, I applaud the President for pursuing a plan for economic growth. As part of his agenda, I hope he also addresses the need to put our national debt on a downward path for the sake of generations to come.
