John Trotto Photography LLC

Owner: John Trotto

Address: 3140 E. Brookwood Court

Hours: Whenever the client or the sun dictates.

Information: (480) 759-6500; www.johntrotto.com; john@johntrotto.com.

Q: Where are you from and what did you do before opening your business?

A: I grew up in the Boston area. After graduating from Northeastern University I traveled around the country and landed in Phoenix. I worked at the Pointe Resorts and soon started doing their photography.

Q: Why did you open your business in Ahwatukee Foothills?

A: I moved here for personal reasons, such as the Kyrene School District for my two children and the lifestyle here (I enjoy bicycling and hiking). I have never second guessed that decision. My clients are located just about anywhere.

Q: How did you get the idea to open your business?

A: Since I bought my first camera in 1972 it has been my passion. While in college I took courses in small business administration in order to run my own studio. My degree in business molded my preference for commercial photography rather than doing weddings or art. In 2007 I started training for video production, so I now consider myself a "visual communicator."

Q: What type of services do you offer?

A: I provide commercial photography services (business to business). The jobs vary and may include photos of one or more of the following: architecture, people (both corporate and lifestyle) product and/or landscapes. I also provide video production with much help from my partner, Frank Salle. We provide videos for the Web, DVD or b-roll footage for TV. Editing is done on Final Cut Pro.

Q: What does your business offer that no one else does?

A: I offer the community a "visual communicator." It is not unique, but it is rare. You can get advertising quality architectural, corporate or product photography and video production from one source. My partner, Frank Salle, helps tremendously with the diverse skills needed to provide all these services. In fact, for the remainder of 2009, you get two creatives for the price of one. That is unique!

Q: How have residents of the community responded to your business?

A: First, let me say that I must reach beyond Ahwatukee Foothills for the quantity of work to support a commercial photography business. That said, I know that there are employees of Avnet, Microchip and MidFirst Bank who live in this community. Repeat business over the years from quality companies such as these speaks for itself.

Q: What does your business have in store for the future?

A: The new "marketing in the digital age" utilizes the Internet to broadcast your message. Seeing this trend prompted me to educate myself in video. By 2010 I hope to provide a "virtual studio." This technology will provide Web broadcasts with the look of a large network studio right here in Ahwatukee by combining green screen technique in my modest studio with new software.

Q: Anything else you want the community to know about you or your business?

A: I want the community to see for themselves. Don't listen to me. You be the judge. Go to www.johntrotto.com and start the slide show in the "Photography > People" section, then "Architecture" and so on. Then, go to "videos > Medium View." Sit back with your cup of coffee and enjoy.
